William Hill Poker Games

Let's face it, there aren't many video poker players who only like playing video poker, and don't take an interest in other forms of poker. For many players, they discover the other forms of poker games first and then turn to video poker later.

Just as there are many different types of video poker, there are also multiple types of other poker games.

If you play in at an casino like you might come across such games as:
Caribbean Stud Poker
3 Card Poker
Let It Ride Poker

If you go into a poker room where players are playing against each other you might get the choice of the following poker games:
Texas Holdem
Omaha Poker
5 Card Stud
7 Card Stud.

Even within these different types of poker games there are still more variations in how each can be played, and for each variation the odds of winning and playing strategy all change.

Taking Texas Holdem as an example, you can play Limit or No Limit. With Limit, the amount you can bet each better round is limited. You can still bet, or raise, but the amount you can actually bet and raise is the part that is limited.

The other variation of the game is No Limit. As the name suggests, with this form of Texas Holdem you can bet as much as you like. This is the game where you might here the phrase "All In" because the player has literally bet all there chips. This raises the questions in the other players minds as to whether the player has a great hand and wants to win as many chips as possible, or the player is reading weakness, or simply getting desperate and is BLUFFING. For those that don't know, bluffing is playing and betting as if you have a winning hand, when in fact you likely have the weakest hand, or in some cases nothing at all.

Another key factor is the number of players you are playing against. This usually ranges from heads up with 2 players, up to 10 players. The more players playing, you need a stringer hand to win.

If however you are playing table poker against the dealer in the casino, the odds are in favour of the casino. It is still useful to know the rules and best playing strategy, but there isn't the same skill level involved as helps players gain a winning edge when playing against other players.
