Going for Fours

Going for fours is a variation of Jacks or Better video poker.  It is also based on the five card draw poker game.  What I mean by this is you have to have at least a pair of Jacks in order to win a payout, you also get five cards in the deal that you are able to exchange once before the winnings are divided up

The Play

In Going for Fours it is best if you play the max bet.  This is a five coin bet of any denomination that the machine accepts.  After the bet has been placed the computer you are playing against is going to offer five cards.  Of those five cards if you have something you would like to keep you need to hold it.  You can elect to hold one card or all cards.  It really depends on what you have.  For example if you were dealt a 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8 you would want to hold everything but the eight in the hopes of getting the straight flush with the ace or seven.  On the other hand if you had two jacks, 3, 4, 5 you would hold the two jacks as that is a guaranteed payout.

This game does differ from Jacks or Better in one way.  When you are dealt a 3 of a Kind you have the option of placing an additional wager.  When you place this additional wager you are going for four.  In other words you are going for a four of a kind.  If you get the four of a kind then you get more for the bet you’ve made.  If you don’t get it you lose the initial wager and the second wager.  The amount that you win is based on the four of a kind hand you get.  The better the hand the more you win.
