Jacks or Better

Jacks or Better is a video poker game based on five card draw.  In this game you need to have at least a pair of Jacks or Better to win.  If you are familiar with five card draw you can be very good at this game.  It is a game for beginners or those who have always enjoyed a good game.

Playing Tips

In Jacks or Better you will be dealt five cards.  Of those five cards you can select to keep all or none.  It is up to you how many you would like to keep.  When playing you need to know what is going to make a winning hand.  If you have a pair that is below Jacks then you may not want to keep it.  A pair that is below Jacks is not going to win your a payout.  You can have a pair of Jacks or Better, Two pair, three of a kind, straight, flush, full house, four of a kind, straight flush, and royal flush in order to win.

It is best to try for the Royal or Straight Flush.  Those two hands pay out the best.  They will also pay out if you play one coin or five coins.  You have a better payout if you play the maximum bet of 5 coins though.  By playing the maximum bet you at least get the best payout rather than small little wagers that may not win you a great deal over time.  This game is not a progressive game.  In other words there is no big money jackpot, just the regular jackpot that you win for having a Royal flush.  Before playing Jacks or Better you may want to look over the pay tables.  They are very informative for the hands and the payouts.

Strategy

When playing Jacks or Better it is best to have some type of strategy.  Your strategy will help you win the game more often and get the better payouts over time.  As mentioned up above you need to have at least a pair of Jacks or better.  If you have a pair lower than that it is best to scrap all five cards.  You could try for a three of a kind in the lower cards, and you do have three cards to make that happen.  However, it is up to you because most often when you hold a pair you don’t get the third or fourth card you need in the low cards.

Most games will have the higher cards appearing more often in a deal.  You should never break up two pair or a four of a kind to try for something better.  If you have the hand then it doesn’t matter because chances are you won’t get anything that is better.

If you have four cards that will lead to a Royal Flush then keep those cards.  One may have a small chance of getting the win, but it is a better chance than rolling something better by scrapping all five cards.
